During a lecture this week, a fellow student had written a link to this page on the blackboard. After the break was over, she told us what this site was did (in front of us all). Of course, I was dumbfounded that anyone dared to do something like that. Whatever I just had to check out this page as she told us about.
The page is called A Click for the Forest(or ett klick for skogen in Swedish), and as the name suggests, it is ingenious enough just what you do. You click for the woods!
You go to the page --> Click a green button that says "Click for the forest, click for free." --> This button sends you to the sponsor page.
And that's ALL you need to do to donate money to preserve the old in Sweden!
Foundation uses the money to buy and preserve old-growth forests with high conservation value. To guarantee that all the "clicks" and other donations will be used to buy and preserve forests, they have secured an official certification (known in Sweden as a "90-account") to ensure that more than 75% of all donations go to buy the forest.
It sounds almost too good to be true. Every time you press this button (and you are being sent to a sponsor page), then the sponsor site give this money to the foundation.
So the more you click, the more money goes to the preservation of old forest in Sweden.

The future is canceled due to lack of interest!
Part 1
This first part of the post is based on the lecture "Norwegian nature - goodbye. (Summary)" as Sigmund Hågvar submitted on Monday 3 January.
The arguments for taking care of nature (especially the untouched nature) are many. The challenge then is to try to present this in a structured way. Sigmund Hågvar split the arguments into three main categories discussed below.
Ecological arguments
- Maintain food chains
- Maintain cooperation and adaptation
- Maintain decomposition processes (which form the soil and is important for soil fertility)
- Maintain parasites and predators (stabilize populations)
- Maintain high species richness represents an important potential if environmental conditions change (buffer effect)
- Set as potential sources of food
- use that medication
- use that supply us with products use in agriculture (pollination, biological control)
- use as an indicator species (stone flies),
- breaking down contaminants
- use in research and teaching diversity has great recreational value
- All life forms have intrinsic value (All organisms have the right to life unfold (Rio))
- Untouched nature has intrinsic value
- The human being is a "newcomer" on the globe
- Future evolution need diversity
- Future generations need diversity
Part 2
When you divide up the arguments in this way, one can clearly see that there is much we earn to take care of the beautiful and varied scenery we have. But changes in our attitude is needed. It is needed a new and increased respect for natural heritage, future generations and evolution. How much should we destroy in the short time we are living on the planet?
As Øystein Dahle (World Watch Institute) said so well in his lecture "Nature - the broad perspective", Future has been canceled due to lack of interest. It is simply not enough people who care and who makes the fuss around this. On one side sits the politician to claim that they make for great measures to save the environment, they will lose the confidence of the people, while studies show that people are waiting for the politician to do something (for the state does nothing, it can not be so bad with nature). This has therefore become a vicious circle that we must stop. And it is our task as a resident of the Earth. For the action plan is already clear (might come closer to these later), we have enough knowledge to change the earth's tragic fate. It's time to wake up! It is we who must take the initiative!

World's rescue comes from an unexpected place.
This blog is going to take up the current "stuff" especially in the field of biology and nature management.
It's about time that someone is trying to get people to understand that we have little time left if we are to save nature and biodiversity (and if not ourselves) from destruction.
The purpose of this blog is to draw your attention to the nature and cause you to understand that we have littel time to make drastic changes in both our culture and lifestyle.
I hereby take today off my silk gloves, to say: "It's time to start the fight!"
The plan comes to life ... Now there is no turning back! |
